The next few days are spent exploring Seoul, having a week before he starts at JYP. Although he understands all the Korean around him, the language sounds foreign to his ears, having never been surrounded with this much Korean culture. He eats at a small café, buys himself a cup of coffee and a croissant, watches people hurry by through the pristine windows. The cold air definitely wakes him up, and he makes his way down the street, promising not to stray too far from his apartment complex.

Feeling rather clueless, he decides to wash up, change into some new sweats, and grab his wallet, quietly locking the door behind him. Seoul continues to bustle, blaring and honking in his ears even though it’s a mere 5 a.m. He wakes up four hours later, not feeling completely refreshed but body too awake to go back to sleep. not the same as sharing drinks with them on a Friday night or having dance battles in the living room. demanding them to be up before they miss a study session. Of course FaceTime and texts and social media exists, but it's not the same waking up to Hyunjin's snoring or Seungmin storming into their bedrooms at 1 p.m. And he misses Seungmin and Hyunjin too, both deciding to stay in the city and pursue their respective interests. But sleep doesn't come easily, because for the first time since he moved out for freshman year of college, he misses his family-his mother's cooking, his father's rants about football, his sister's complaints about high school drama. He is still incredibly tired, lethargic from all the takeout food Changbin had ordered for dinner that night. Homesickness does linger that night as Jisung lies awake in bed. Having brought only a few important items with him, his room is left sparsely decorated until he and Changbin have time to go shopping. Two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen make up their space, and having lived in a college dorm, Jisung believes he’ll settle in quickly. The taxi and Changbin's stories of Seoul lull Jisung to sleep, and in almost no time, they make it to the apartment. He stifles a yawn as he climbs into the backseat of the taxi, followed closely by Changbin. Changbin was too kind, agreeing to meet Jisung at the airport instead of simply waiting at his- their-apartment. "Hey, how was your flight?" Changbin asks as he picks up Jisung's suitcases and loads them into the taxi. He happens to be Jisung's new roommate and future coworker, also working as a lyricist and producer at JYP. He's about the same height as Jisung, with a moss green beanie pulled over his head, clothed in all black, hands stuffed in his pockets. He had slept on the airplane of course, but exhaustion still seeps into his bones as he lugs his bags with him, as if they had grown twice as heavy during the flight.Ĭhangbin stands a few meters away from the revolving door. Fills his water bottle, goes to the bathroom, brushes his teeth, and tries to look the slightest presentable when his future roommate meets him. Slowly, he makes his way to the baggage claim. The amount of colors he sees overwhelms his head, and he blinks rapidly to try to regain focus of his body. He feels lost, young and clueless, a lonesome traveler in such a bustling space. The world whirls around him, everybody excitedly heading off, both tourists and natives, and Jisung once again feels like he's watching the world revolve around him.

He steps off the plane at Incheon International Airport, his legs rebelling after the 13 hour flight. Although he’s Korean American, Jisung’s never actually visited Korea before.
